Ximinic Dry Syrup is a potent antibiotic made up of two active medicines. It is given to children to treat a wide range of severe bacterial infections targeting the ear, throat, lungs, skin, and urinary tract. It works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria thereby preventing the infection spread.

In Treatment of Respiratory tract infection

Respiratory tract infections are those infections that can affect the sinuses, throat, airways or lungs. Ximinic Dry Syrup contains two different medicines, Cefpodoxime Proxetil and Clavulanic Acid, that work together to kill the bacteria that cause respiratory tract infections. Cefpodoxime Proxetil works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefpodoxime Proxetil against bacteria.

It usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

Side effects of Ximinic Dry Syrup in children

Ximinic Dry Syrup does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child. The most common side effects include-

How can I give Ximinic Dry Syrup to my child?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Ximinic Dry Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Ximinic Oral Suspension works

Ximinic Dry Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Cefpodoxime Proxetil and Clavulanic Acid. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefpodoxime Proxetil against bacteria.

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Ximinic Dry Syrup is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Ximinic Dry Syrup is recommended.
However, dose modifications may be required in children with severe kidney disease. Consult with your doctor.
Liver
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Ximinic Dry Syrup is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Ximinic Dry Syrup is recommended.
However, consult with your child’s doctor before giving Ximinic Dry Syrup to your child in case of a severe form of liver disease.

What if I forget to give Ximinic Dry Syrup to my child?

Do not panic. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule and do not give the double dose to catch up.

Quick tips

  • Complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
  • Ximinic Dry Syrup may cause a bitter taste. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.
  • Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
  • Never give Ximinic Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. You must also never share your child’s medicine with anyone else even if they show similar symptoms.
  • Do not give Ximinic Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses.
  • Stop Ximinic Dry Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.Β
