Chlamydia Pneumoniae IgM

Chlamydia Pneumoniae IgM test is done to detect the presence of IgM specific Chlamydia Pneumoniae antibodies in the blood. Chlamydia Pneumoniae IgM antibodies are produced in response to the infection caused by the bacteria Chlamydia Pneumoniae, that causes respiratory illness such as pneumonia in children and adults.

The test could be done with a blood sample or a sputum sample from the back of the throat. The reference value for the Chlamydia Pneumoniae IgM Antibody test is 1:10. Values less than 1:10 represent negative test and lack of current infection while values more than 1:10 represent positive test and presence of current infection. Thus, this test aids in identification of various respiratory disorders such as bronchitis, pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia, lower respiratory tract infections, etc.
