Understanding IA2 Insulin Autoantibodies

What is IA2 Insulin Autoantibodies?

IA2 Insulin Autoantibodies test helps detect type I diabetes. IA2 insulin autoantibodies are produced by the immune system associated with type 1 diabetes. Thus the testing of these autoantibodies helps to rule out the risk of developing type 1 diabetes. These autoantibodies are the better marker of blood sugar levels. This test helps to identify the onset of type I diabetes in individuals with or without symptoms, to identify individuals with a high risk of developing type I diabetes and to distinguish between type I and type II diabetes. Common symptoms of diabetes include frequent urination, excessive thirst, fatigue, or weight loss. Self-care measures such as a balanced diet, regular exercise and prescribed medications may help control blood sugar levels and prevent developing diabetes-associated complications.
