Understanding Malaria Detection, Real Time PCR

What is Malaria Detection, Real Time PCR?

Malaria is an infectious disease that is caused by species of the Plasmodium parasite. This test is usually done to diagnose malaria and monitor the treatment of malaria. The common symptoms of malaria include chills, flu-like symptoms, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and jaundice. This test is done to detect the presence of malarial parasites in the blood through the real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). PCR amplifies the genetic material of the parasite for easy identification.
