Mango commonly known as Aam is called the “King of Fruits”. It is one of the most consumed fruits during the summer season. Mangoes are rich source of vitamin A, C and has anti-oxidant, laxative and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to manage heat stroke, anemia, constipation, improve eye health and boost immunity. It also reduces the risk of high cholesterol and high blood pressure[1].

Benefits of Mango

1. Anorexia
Anorexia is an eating disorder in which people have an intense fear of gaining weight. This might lead to drastic weight loss. According to Ayurveda, Anorexia is known as Aruchi due to increase in Ama (toxic remains in the body due to improper digestion). This Ama blocks the gastrointestinal channels and leads to anorexia. Unripe Mango is great for managing anorexia due to its Amla (sour) taste and Deepan (appetizer) property.
Tips:
a. Wash and cut 1-2 Mangoes or as per your requirement.
b. Eat preferably in the breakfast or 2-3 hours before meals.

2. Weight Gain
Eating sweet Mango helps people who are underweight. This is because of its Balya (tonic) property. It provides deep nourishment to the tissues, promote strength and helps in healthy weight gain.
Tips:
a. Take a ripe Mango.
b. Scoop out the pulp and blend it by adding the same quantity of milk.
c. Drink it preferably during breakfast or in the daytime.
d. Continue for atleast 1-2 month for a significant change in weight.

3. Male Sexual Dysfunction
Sexual Dysfunction in men can be in the form of loss of libido i.e., having no inclination towards a sexual act. There can also be a low erection time or semen expelled soon after a sexual activity. This is also referred to as early discharge or premature ejaculation. Eating sweet Mango improves sexual life and increase stamina due to its Vajikarana (aphrodisiac) property.

This aggravated Vata brings fluid in the intestine from various tissues from the body and mixes with the stool. This leads to loose, watery motions or diarrhea. Mango seed powder helps to retain fluid in the intestine and control loose motion due to its Kashaya (astringent) property.
Tips:
a. Take ¼-½ teaspoon Mango seed powder.
b. Swallow it with lukewarm water or honey after taking food to control diarrhea.

  • Mango Powder - ¼-½ teaspoon twice a day.
  • Mango Capsule - 1-2 capsules twice a day.
  • Mango Candy - 3-4 candies or as per your requirement.

Mango helps in quick healing of wound and decreases swelling. This is due to its Ropan (healing) property. It also helps bring back the normal texture of skin.

c. Apply on the affected area once or twice a day for quick wound healing.

2. Acne
According to Ayurveda, an aggravation of Kapha leads to an increased sebum production and clogging of pores. This results in the formation of both white and blackheads. Another factor, an aggravation of Pitta causes red papules (bumps) and inflammation with pus. Using Mango pulp or leaf juice helps to prevent the production of sebum and remove clogging of pores. This is due to its Kashaya (astringent) property. It also reduces inflammation around acne due to its Sita (cold) potency.

c. Keep it for 4-5 minutes.

a. Take few clean and fresh Mango leaves.
b. Add Aloe vera gel and make a paste using a blender.
c. Apply on the hair and roots and keep for 3-4 hours.
