Mycopas Granules is a combination medicine used in the treatment of tuberculosis. It prevents the growth of the microorganisms that cause the infection.

Mycopas Granules is a combination of two antibiotics: sodium aminosalicylate and isoniazid which treat tuberculosis.

In Tuberculosis (TB)

Mycopas Granules is used to treat tuberculosis, an infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs but can affect other parts of the body as well. It kills as well as stops the growth of infection causing bacteria and helps in treating the infection. Take it in the dose and duration advised by the doctor. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured. Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor as doing so may cause the infection to return or worsen. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit.

Side effects of Mycopas Granules

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

  • Rash
  • Fever
  • Peripheral neuropathy (tingling and numbness of feet and hand)
  • Increased liver enzymes
  • Jaundice

How to use Mycopas Granules

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Empty the granules in a glass of water/milk, stir it and consume immediately. Mycopas Granules is to be taken empty stomach.
Avoid Mycopas Granules with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

Consuming alcohol while taking Mycopas Granules may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Pregnancy

Mycopas Granules may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Breast feeding

Driving
UNSAFE
Mycopas Granules may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Mycopas Granules can cause fits, mental health problems and optic neuritis (inflammation of the optic nerve that may cause loss of vision.) This may affect your driving ability.
Kidney

There is limited information available on the use of Mycopas Granules in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Mycopas Granules should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Mycopas Granules may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Quick tips

Mycopas Granules

  • Mycopas Granules must be taken on an empty stomach at the same time every day.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
  • Discontinue Mycopas Granules and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or have difficulty in breathing.
  • It is advisable to drink plenty of fluids and a healthy diet while taking the medicine.
  • It may cause dizziness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how the medicine affects you.
