Xiatra Eye Drop belongs to a group of medicines called prostaglandin analogue. It is used to reduce pressure in your eyes. It increases the flow of fluid from inside the eye into the bloodstream thereby lowering the increased eye pressure. If the pressure in your eye is too high, it can damage your sight. Take it regularly as prescribed by your doctor. If you stop taking it, the pressure in your eye will not be controlled.

  • For best results, put one drop once a day in the evening/night in the affected eye(s).
  • Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the drop.
  • Xiatra Eye Drop may cause brown pigmentation of the iris. This discoloration may be permanent.
  • Your eyelashes may become more dense and eyelid skin may darken. These changes should disappear after discontinuing Xiatra Eye Drop.

Though it does not occur in everyone, dry eyes is a common side effect of Xiatra Eye Drop. If you experience severe dryness which irritates you, talk to your doctor who may suggest a remedy for this.

Does Xiatra Eye Drop make eyelashes grow?

Yes, Xiatra Eye Drop may gradually cause some changes to your eyelashes. It may increase the length, thickness, pigmentation and number of lashes. These changes are usually reversible and disappear after discontinuation of the treatment.

How long does it take for Xiatra Eye Drop to work?

Xiatra Eye Drop starts working quickly after about 2 hours of administration. The maximum effect of this medicine is reached after about 12 hours. Consult your doctor if you do not notice any improvement in your symptoms in a day.

How should Xiatra Eye Drop be used?

Always use Xiatra Eye Drop as directed by your doctor. It is usually recommended to put one drop in the affected eye(s) once a day, in the evening. Use it in both the eyes if advised by the doctor. Take it for as long as your doctor has advised you.

Store Xiatra Eye Drop at 2°C - 25°C (36°F - 77°F). Keep it out of reach and sight of children. Before opening, keep the bottle in the container it came in to protect it from moisture. Do not use it after the expiry date. After opening the bottle, use it only for 2 weeks.

Can I stop Xiatra Eye Drop if I am fine now?

No, you should not stop using Xiatra Eye Drop without consulting your doctor. If you stop taking this medicine suddenly, the pressure in your eyes may not be controlled which may increase the risk of loss of sight.

When should I seek a doctor’s advice?

You should contact your doctor immediately if you develop an eye infection, conjunctivitis or an eyelid reaction. Also, you should inform the doctor if you have an eye injury or eye surgery. Discuss with your doctor if you have to continue using Xiatra Eye Drop.

Can I use Xiatra Eye Drop with contact lenses?

No, you should remove your contact lenses before instilling Xiatra Eye Drop. You can re-insert the lens 15 minutes after using Xiatra Eye Drop. Contact your doctor if there is any eye irritation that persists.
