Bos Medicare Surgical Shoulder Immobilizer A shoulder immobilizer is a device that keeps your arm from moving while your shoulder conditions. It's different from a sling because it keeps your arm close to your body. Bos Medicare is surgical to immobilize and support dislocated shoulder, made out of durable three-layered foaming fabric and wrinkle-free, adjustable hook and loop for the desired position, The two-piece design helps in easy to apply and remove, secures the humerus and forearm to the torso, it is useful in fracture of clavicle bone, shoulder joint where immobilization is highly needed. - It decreases the risk of dislocation
- This product also stabilizes the shoulder joint
- A shoulder immobilizer is different from a sling because it keeps your arm close to your body. It usually has a chest band, an armband, and a wrist band
- Many shoulder braces help immobilize the arm and shoulder to provide support to the injured area and minimize movement. This allows the shoulder to heal without undue stress while also minimizing the risk of re-injury. Other shoulder braces provide compression
Directions For Use:
- Wrap the chest band around your chest, covering your breasts. The curved part of the chest band should be under the arm opposite your injury. Secure it with the velcro
- Fasten one end of the strap through the D-ring on the end of the sling that will support your elbow
- Position the sling on your arm with the strap across your back and over your unaffected shoulder
- Adjust the strap length to support your arm and keep your elbow at a 90° flexion
- Wrap the elastic wrap horizontally around the outside of the sling and your trunk under your unaffected arm
- Place your shoulder straps over your opposite shoulder, feed them through the D-ring, and secure
- Your hand should be slightly elevated above your elbow
- Your elbow should be in front of your body
- The strap should be tight to hold your arm in the proper position
- Position the elbow in the pocket of the sling. The wrist and 3/4 of the hand should be supported within the pocket
- If your sling pocket has a thumb loop, you may place your thumb in the loop to help maintain the position of the forearm
- Place shoulder straps over the opposite shoulder, feed through the D-ring and secure
Safety Information:
- Follow instructions: Make sure to follow the directions provided by your healthcare provider
- Don't move your shoulder: When loosening the immobilizer, only loosen the wrist strap and straighten your arm at the elbow. Avoid moving your shoulder
- Don't remove it without approval: Don't take the immobilizer off unless your surgeon says it's okay
- Wear it correctly: Make sure the sling is not too tight or too loose. Your arm should rest comfortably at a 90-degree angle against your body
- Adjust it correctly: The buckle should be on the front of your body. The strap should go over your uninjured shoulder and attach to the chest band behind your back. Use the buckle to adjust the strap into the correct position
