Atorec R 2.5mg/10mg Capsule is a combination of two medicines that treat high blood pressure and also associated with high cholesterol levels. Lowering blood pressure helps in preventing future heart attacks and strokes.

You can take Atorec R 2.5mg/10mg Capsule at any time of day, with or without food, but it is best to take it at the same time each day. Keep taking it for as long as advised by your doctor. Even if you feel well, do not stop this medicine on your own because high blood pressure often has no symptoms. If you stop taking it, your condition may get worse. Keeping active with regular exercise, reducing your weight and eating a healthy diet will also help control your blood pressure. Follow your doctor’s advice while taking this medicine.

Nausea, taste change, indigestion, and stomach pain are some common side effects of this medicine. Let your doctor if dizziness, cough, or throat irritation does not go away or bothers you. You may be asked for regular checkup of liver, kidney, electrolytes level and blood pressure while taking this medicine.

How Atorec R Capsule works

Ramipril and atorvastatin which treat high blood pressure associated with high cholesterol levels. Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor which works by reducing stress on the heart and relaxing blood vessels so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently. Atorvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering medicine which works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL).

Atorec R 2.5mg/10mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Atorec R 2.5mg/10mg Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver

CAUTION

Atorec R 2.5mg/10mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Atorec R 2.5mg/10mg Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Atorec R 2.5mg/10mg Capsule is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

What if you forget to take Atorec R Capsule?

If you miss a dose of Atorec R 2.5mg/10mg Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
