Endospas Oral Suspension is commonly given to treat abdominal pain in children. It relieves the pain by relaxing the muscles of the stomach. It also blocks the action of certain chemical messengers that can cause pain and fever.

Endospas Oral Suspension is a combination of two medicines: Endospas Oral Suspension1 and Endospas Oral Suspension2.

Side effects of Endospas Oral Suspension in children

Endospas Oral Suspension does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child. The most common side effects include-

How can I give Endospas Oral Suspension to my child?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Endospas Oral Suspension may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Endospas Oral Suspension works

Endospas Oral Suspension is a combination of two medicines: dicyclomine and paracetamol, which relieves abdominal pain and cramps. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic that relaxes the muscles in the stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms), thereby relieving cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) that works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain.

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Endospas Oral Suspension is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Endospas Oral Suspension is recommended.
However, Endospas Oral Suspension should be used with caution in children with severe kidney disease. Discuss with your child’s doctor thoroughly before giving this medicine to your child in such cases.
Liver
CAUTION
Endospas Oral Suspension should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Endospas Oral Suspension may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of Endospas Oral Suspension is not recommended in children with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

What if I forget to give Endospas Oral Suspension to my child?

Do not panic. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, give the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it is almost the time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.

Quick tips

  • Do not give Endospas Oral Suspension to infants who are less than 6 months of age.
  • Do not give Endospas Oral Suspension with antacids as they can decrease its absorption.

    3. Avoid giving caffeinated foods such as coffee, chocolates to your child as these can trigger the pain.

Depression is a persistent state of sadness that is the result of interaction between one's inner biological and psychological state and gets triggered of with environmental stressors. Reactive depression is in response to a situation like loss, sickness, trauma etc. Endogenous depression occurs without any noticeable environmental stressors. Psychological symptoms include lack of interest, negative thinking, irritability, frustration, feeling demotivated etc. Somatic symptoms like fatigue/ weakness/ lack of sleep/ lack of appetite and other physical symptoms are common. Anxiety is common. In severe cases one may feel helpless and hopeless enough to wish for death or attempt suicide. Treatment includes physical and psychiatric work up following which medicines can be prescribed. In milder cases, psychotherapy or counselling is recommended.

Antispasmodic medicines such as Endospas Oral Suspension relieve the stomach cramps brought on by irritable bowel syndrome by relaxing the smooth muscle of the gut. But these medicines may cause constipation as a side effect, so they are not usually prescribed for children who have constipation.

In which conditions should I avoid giving Endospas Oral Suspension to my child?

Reach out to your child’s doctor without any delay if your child exhibits serious side effects like impaired consciousness, blurred vision, bouts of diarrhea, hyperthermia, or psychosis.

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Endospas Oral Suspension?

Endospas Oral Suspension can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Endospas Oral Suspension. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

My child who is having abdominal pain has to participate in a sports function tomorrow at school. Is Endospas Oral Suspension the right choice?

Endospas Oral Suspension may cause drowsiness and/or blurred vision. These side effects may impair physical or mental abilities. Therefore, it is advised not to give Endospas Oral Suspension if your child has to perform a task requiring mental alertness.
