No, Fentisafe Cream is neither an antibiotic nor a steroid. It belongs to the imidazole class of antifungals. It is used to treat candidiasis (thrush) occurring in the vulva and vagina.
Does Fentisafe Cream have any effect on contraceptives?
Yes, Fentisafe Cream can damage condoms and diaphragms (barrier method of contraception), thereby affecting their efficacy. Therefore, instead of using these, you can use alternative methods of contraception such as contraceptive pills.
How should Fentisafe Cream be used?
Fentisafe Cream should be used strictly as per the doctor’s advice. The usual dose of Fentisafe Cream is one applicator full in the morning and one applicator full in the evening for 3 days. Do not start treatment with Fentisafe Cream during menstruation as the cream will be washed off with blood flow. The treatment should be finished before the onset of menstruation. Do not use tampons, vaginal douches, spermicide or other vaginal products while using Fentisafe Cream.
