How LCM-Star Syrup works

LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist. It works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.

Pregnancy
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Breast feeding
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving
UNSAFE
LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, use of LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple is recommended.
However, consult your child’s doctor in case of severe liver disease.

What if you forget to take LCM-Star Syrup?

Do not panic. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, give the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it is almost the time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.

  • Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
  • Stop taking LCM-Star Syrup Pineapple at least three days before taking an allergy test as it can affect the test results.
