Introduction of Tena Cid Syrup

Tena Cid Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat acidity and indigestion. It relieves the symptoms of acidity such as heartburn, stomach pain, or irritation. It also neutralizes excessive acid in the stomach and helps in easy passage of gas.

Tena Cid Syrup is taken with food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are diarrhea, constipation, and chalky taste. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. To overcome constipation, you should add fibre-rich foods in your diet and stay hydrated.

Before you start taking this medicine it is important to inform your doctor if you are suffering from liver or kidney disease. You should also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. Lifestyle modifications like having cold milk and avoiding hot tea, coffee, spicy food or chocolate can help you to get better results.

How Tena Cid Syrup works

Tena Cid Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Magaldrate and Dimethicone. Magaldrate is an inorganic salt that neutralises the excess acid in stomach. Dimethicone is an antifoaming medicine which disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.

Tena Cid Syrup

  • Tena Cid Syrup helps relieve acidity and indigestion.
  • It should be used only for occasional relief from increased stomach acid. Do not take it for more than 2 weeks, unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor.
  • Inform your doctor if you show signs of appendicitis or inflamed bowel (such as lower abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, nausea, vomiting).
  • Avoid taking Tena Cid Syrup at least 2 hours before or after taking other medicines as it may interact with other medicines.
  • Incorporate the folowing lifestyle changes in order to prevent indigestion:
    1. Make sure you eat regular meals and drink plenty of water.
    2. Avoid spicy and fatty fried food.
    3. Lose weight if you are obese.
    4. If you are a smoker, consider giving up.
    5. Don't drink too much alcohol.
    6. Do not go to bed immediately after taking a meal. Sit in a relaxed position for some time for better digestion.
