Anti Smith Antibody

The Anti Smith Antibody test is ordered to help diagnose lupus or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The Anti-Smith antibodies are mostly present in cases of SLE. These antibodies attack the body’s proteins and are usually found in people suffering from lupus. SLE is difficult to diagnose as no two people display the same symptoms and the symptoms progress slowly. Tests are based on signs such as skin rashes, mouth sores, fatigue, joint problems, organ inflammation, nervous system disorders, and reduced red blood cells.
