What is Coxsackie Antibody, IgM?
The Coxsackie Antibody test is performed to determine the presence of antibodies against the Coxsackie virus in the blood and diagnose an infection of Coxsackievirus type A or type B. This disease is usually caused in the children with age group less than 5 years and can cause Hand, Foot and Mouth disease.
What is Coxsackie Antibody, IgM used for?
- When symptoms of Hand Foot and Mouth Disease appear, including fever, headaches, rashes, and small blisters on the palms and soles and the inside of the mouth that can form ulcers
- To diagnose Coxsackie virus infection extent, severity and prognosis

Interpreting Coxsackie Antibody, IgM results
Interpretations
A positive result in the IgM antibody test indicates the presence of an infection by the Coxsackie virus. IgM antibodies usually reach detectable levels immediately after the infection occurs, so positive results indicate a recent infection.
