What is CT PNS Scan - Coronal View?
Computerized tomography of the paranasal sinus (PNS) is a test that is used to detect the disease of the paranasal sinuses which are air filled hollow spaces in the facial bones surrounding nasal cavities. The test is used to identify the diseases like birth defects of the sinuses, infection in the bone of the sinuses, nasal polyps, sinusitis, infection/inflammation of the sinus & tumours of the sinus. This test rapidly creates pictures of the sinuses using X rays. You may feel slight discomfort like burning sensation, metallic taste in the mouth & warm flushing of the mouth during the test which is completely normal.
What is CT PNS Scan - Coronal View used for?
- • To detect and diagnose chronic sinusitis or presence of any fluid in the sinus cavities • To detect any infections or inflammation of the sinuses • To detect the presence of any tumors (abnormal growth) • To plan and guide the treatment procedures if any conducted • To diagnose suspected deviated nasal septum
