What is Mycobacterium Tuberculosis DNA PCR - Qualitative -Sputum?
Mycobacterium Tuberculosis DNA PCR - Qualitative -Sputum test for bacterial disease, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB). This test is performed to determine the presence of genetic material of the bacteria in the blood and to diagnose tuberculosis.
The doctor may prescribe the test in case of the following symptoms such as a bad cough that lasts for three weeks or longer, pain in the chest, and coughing up blood or sputum. The other symptoms of TB disease are weight loss, weakness, fatigue, sweating at night, and fever.
A positive result in the test is indicative of tuberculosis infection. However, in some cases, a patient with a treated and resolved history of tuberculosis may give a positive test for several years post-treatment.
