Understanding NCCT Face

What is NCCT Face?

A Non-Contrast Computed Tomography (NCCT) face scan is a safe, non-invasive imaging procedure used to diagnose fractures and diseases affecting your jaw or facial bones, problems related to your eyes and optic nerves, bones around the eyes, and disorders affecting the sinuses. Doctors also use it before planning interventional and reconstructive surgeries of the face. Those allergic to contrast agents used in scans can benefit from this scan.

In this test, rotating X-ray beams take multiple images of your face from different angles, which doctors examine on a monitor. The scanner has an intercom system that allows you to communicate with the technician in case of any discomfort. Before the scan, inform the doctors if you are pregnant or have any medical conditions. Also, remove all metal accessories from your body.

What is NCCT Face used for?

  1. • To detect the fractures of the facial or jaw bones • To determine problems of the eyes, bones around the eyes, and optic nerves • To detect disorders or diseases affecting the air-filled cavities of bones around the nose called sinuses • To detect and diagnose diseases affecting the facial or jaw bones like Paget’s Disease • To plan interventional and reconstructive procedures of the face
