Understanding Three Phase Study Liver & CT Whole Abdomen
What is Three Phase Study Liver & CT Whole Abdomen?
Computed tomography (CT scan / CAT scan) is an imaging procedure that provides two-dimensional images of the scanned area. This procedure is undertaken with or without administering "contrast" (a substance which is taken intravenously or by mouth to visualize the area clearly). The evaluation of the liver is done by triphasic CT, which includes 3 phases: non-contrast, arterial phase and portal venous phase. CT is performed to assess the organs for tumours and other lesions/infections/injuries when X-rays and ultrasound are not conclusive.
Inform the doctor if you are pregnant. Allergic reactions to contrast mediums like nausea, headache can be treated immediately. The scan takes about 15 minutes.
