Understanding Ultrasound Lower Abdomen
What is Ultrasound Lower Abdomen?
An ultrasonography (USG) of the lower abdomen is a procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to scan the internal organs located in the lower abdomen of the body including pelvic cavity and reproductive system. It is often used to diagnose unexplained pelvic pain, swelling, abnormal bleeding, or infection. In pregnant females it is done to visualize and monitor the growth of fetus. USG is considered to be safe procedure as it does not use ionizing radiation and provides a clear picture of soft tissues that don't show up well on x-ray images.
