P1NP

P1NP refers to Procollagen 1 Intact N-Terminal Propeptide. This test detects the levels of P1NP which is a marker for bone formation. The test is used to monitor the efficacy of osteoporosis treatment especially in the patients who are taking teriparatide. P1NP levels are found to rise within a few weeks when osteoporosis is being treated successfully with teriparatide.
